1 WALK – IN – INTERVIEW FOR ENGAGEMENT OF PILOTS ON CONTRACT BASIS FOR KANDLA / VADINAR PILOTAGE OPERATIONS WALK – IN – INTERVIEW FOR ENGAGEMENT OF PILOTS ON CONTRACT BASIS FOR KANDLA / VADINAR PILOTAGE OPERATIONS Kandla Port Trust intends to conduct Walk-in-Interview for engagement of Pilots on Contract basis for Kandla/Vadinar pilotage operations, subject to the following terms and condition: (1) (a) Qualification: Must hold certificate of competency of Master (Foreign going) (b) Maximum age limit shall be 65 years. (2) Pilots on Contract basis will be engaged initially for a period of three years which is extendable for a further period of three years, if required by the Port Trust. (3) A minimum availability will be 15 days per calendar month and will be staggered to ensure availability at the administrative convenience and will attend all the movements including night movements scheduled for the particular day.(4) Pilots on contract basis shall be paid a daily allowance of Rs.7,500/- on days they are available for pilotage operations. However, for less than 12 hours availability on any day they will be paid @ 50% of the daily allowance. (5) The above allowance is applicable to shipping movements at all Cargo / Oil berths, SBMs, Product Jetty or any other shipping operations including pull back operations within the Port facilities required to be done by the Pilot.(6)Traveling allowance as per actuals subject to a ceiling of Rs.10,000/- in a calendar month.(7) During the period of training daily allowance will be restricted to 75% of Rs.7,500/- i.e. Rs.5,625/-. (8) The Pilot who opt to stay in port quarter will be allotted "C" type quarter or equivalent quarter in Port colony at Kandla or Vadinar as the case may be on payment of standard rent. OR Accommodation, if required, will be provided in the Port Guest House, Gopalpuri / Vadinar on payment basis. (9) Medical facilities will be provided to self only, while staying at Kandla/ Vadinar to the extent available in the Port Hospital / Health Centre. (10) The Pilots will be provided with air-conditioned vehicle for attending pilotage operations. (11) In case of refusal to perform any pilotage duty or non-availability after reporting the day will be considered as non-available. (12) Transportation will be provided at airport / railway station, as the case may be at the time of arrival and departure. (13) The Pilots engaged for Kandla or Vadinar will be available for pilotage job at either place in exigencies. Alternatively, the Pilots at Kandla are at liberty to opt the following remuneration: a) Retention allowance of Rs. 1,000/- per day. b) Day time pilotage @ Rs. 1,500/- per act. c) Night time pilotage @ Rs. 2,000/- per act. The Port Trust reserves the right to terminate the engagement as contract Pilot at any time without notice. 2 Scintillating Performance of Kandla Port in 2007-08 created history in Cargo Handling – Kandla Port Trust is NUMERO UNO. The continued harmonious relationship between the Trade, the Workers and the Officials, as well as the KPT Administration, facilitated a slew of initiatives by the Port during 2007-08 aimed at enhancing productivity, providing smooth and efficient port services, improved navigability of ships, better rail and road connectivity, augmenting cargo handling capacity, and achieving similar objectives for maximizing KPT’s contribution towards the growth of the National Economy and improvement of the quality of lives of the people that the Port serves. The vision and pragmatism of the KPT Administration under the able professional leadership of Shri A. Janardhana Rao as Chairman, resulted in many record performances by the Port. Transparency and customer focus continued to be the hallmark of the KPT Administration during the fiscal 2007-08. The resultant improvements in efficiency and productivity led to the Port handling 22.8% higher cargo as compared to the year 2006-07. This is the second highest percentage increase in throughput amongst the Major Ports of the Country. KPT, today, commands the highest respect and admiration amongst the Port Community, not only in the Nation but also in the International Shipping and Port Sector, having created its own distinctive niche. The Kandla Port, in its forward march to maintain par excellence in the international maritime sector, has handled a record cargo of 64.89 MMT in 2007-08, as against the quantity of 52.98 MMT handled during the fiscal 2006-07. The Port has, thus, registered a growth of 11 .91 MMT which translates to a 22.48% increase, as against the national growth rate of 11.94%. The productivity of the Port has also increased 33% during the year 2007-08. The Port has a glorious tradition of contributing significantly to the country’s international maritime trade for the past over fifty years. The year 2007-08 was a golden period in the existence of the Port of Kandla, in which developmental programmes worth INR 50810 million , have been taken up under NMDP. A port based Special Economic Zone worth INR 78,000 million has been approved by the Government. Development of Tuna satellite port worth Rs.12,000 million rupees has been initiated. Scores of records have been created in cargo handling operations, large number of schemes and projects have been commissioned. Significant infrastructural upgradation has been effected. Long awaited Container Terminal has been commissioned. Deepening the entrance channel – Sogal Channel- to 12 Mtrs. draft to facilitate free navigation of post Panamax vessels through the channel has been initiated. Numerous additional welfare measures have been implemented. The e-governance in the Port Administration and Port Operations has been initiated.
3 Issuance of new Stevedording Kandla Port issue new licenses to the eligible persons/Firms/Companies for conducting stevedoring work at the Majot Port Of Kandla.
